Having made a living as an artist for over 30 years in the field of graphic design, I want to explore art without the confines of t-squares, rulers and machines. I started at a time when you were considered an artist by virtue of your skills and not because you owned a computer. As a painter I can be creative and explore imagery not produced by mechanical means.

Paintings create the opportunity to escape for brief periods from everyday life, to visually step into another world and linger in its nuances. I'm intrigued by the sense of light and how it impacts a scene, whether subtle or dramatic, and the potential of its emotive powers. But the real satisfaction from painting is the joy I see in the eyes of someone as they revel in the art from their own inner perspective. — Martin Lambuth
